Hi Friends, my name is Robert J. Carr (family, friends & colleagues call me “Bud”) and I am the owner of SRC Tech, LLC. I recently retired from a fortune 5 corporation with 35 years of professional experience here in CT. I hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science from CCSU and other professional certifications.  In 2018, I was proud to be awarded the title of “Distinguished Technologist” which is one of the the highest honors in Information Technology. I have held long-term positions in both engineering and management at my employer Aetna Inc., then CVS Health Inc. Along the way, I have been a dedicated father to 2 children, I am a private pilot, marathon runner, mountain biker, and a 5^th degree black belt in the martial arts with 12 years as an instructor. I have lived a fulfilling life, but it hasn’t been easy, nor has it been perfect.

My family has been through deep tragedy. In 2020, we lost our beloved son, Steven Robert in a motor vehicle accident. He was not only my son, but also my best friend. We shared so many precious moments, for which I am truly grateful. He and my daughter have provided me with an opportunity to learn to be a good father. They allowed me to coach them, care for them, love them, and mentor them on so many occasions. I miss my son so very deeply. SRC Tech is named after him so I can carry his memory and drive to help others forward. I started this company for three reasons. To help others, to carry my son forward with me, and to fill a gap I plainly see in in how our society prepares folks for the professional world. It’s so much more than traditional education.

Upon retiring from my primary career at the end of 2022, I found myself faced with a familiar question I had when I started my journey back in the late 1980’s. What am I going to do with my life? Starting as an intern, my long-time career has prepared me for many possibilities. Some would say that I had a “good problem” to solve. As I reflected on my many years of service to my company, I realized that what I truly enjoyed just as much as the technology I worked with everyday was working with folks as their mentor. In the last 15 years of my career, I worked with many early in career and mid-career folks to help them navigate their own career possibilities. It was exciting to watch their progress and to know I had a small hand in it was exciting. I offered them my time, experience, knowledge, tools, strategies, planning techniques and advice to arm them with information they didn’t have before so they could decide the next steps in life. This activity for me had proven to be very rewarding for me and brings me much joy.

The questions we all face are at some time in our life are frightening. The longer we wait to tackle and define the answers to questions like these, the harder they get to answer..

• How am I going to earn a living?
• What jobs interest me?
• Can I learn all there is to learn to get a good paying job?
• Am I confident enough?
• How much money do I need to earn to live the life I want?
• Do I need secondary education to land the career I want?
• etc.
